12.8 mph average
First full day with new saddle. It was totally tolerable, what a relief!!! If was really worried I wouldn't be able to find one I could tolerate. I went from two $100 or more saddles to a $30 one that works for me. Construction on the road today was really terrible to ride on. We had a 12 mile hill through Helena National Forest that was really long, but gradual. It was a beautiful ride and when you finally got to the top the view for the rest of the day was a complete surprise and absolutely amazing! I was spinning like crazy up the hill (about 85 - 90 rpms) to not hurt my knees and it was great, but very exhausting. I was very thankful for the top. The rest of the day was rolling hills with great scenery. I rode with David Lambert for the last leg of the ride and we had fun encouraging each other to the end. Iced my knee in camp and had an amazing catered meal by Beyond Basil out of Billings. Pork and Beef ribs, mango and crab salad, bean salads that were amazing and ginger snap cookies. The food was the best we've had and they offered to cater for us again tomorrow night in Billings!! Stayed at youth/Kiwanis hall in Harlowton. Showered at motel across the street.
